WIND signs 20 years framework agreement with Ørsted
Danish renewable energy company Ørsted has awarded WIND a 20-year framework agreement for the storage and onshore handling of all its array cables and accessories at WIND’s site in Velsen, The Netherlands. The contract relates to all of Ørsted’s current and future European offshore windfarms.
WIND has worked with Ørsted for several years already, handling the storage of all its export cables since 2015. This latest framework agreement takes that long-term relationship a step further as it will involve centralisation of all Ørsted’s array cables and accessories from their current various storage locations in Europe to WIND’s yard in Velsen, The Netherlands. For this purpose, WIND is planning to further expand its warehouse capacity from where logistics and repairs will also be handled.
WIND Managing Director Tom Nooij says that WIND’s strong focus on flexibility, quality and safety, in addition to a trusting business relationship, were the key issues underlying this new agreement. “The trust that Ørsted is showing in us by combining its storage of subsea cables for all its European windfarms into one efficient yard is greatly appreciated. On a more general note, this development contributes further to the centralisation of cable related services in the European offshore renewables market and will help the offshore wind industry achieve a decrease of repair and maintenance costs. At the same time this new framework agreement further strengthens the position of the Amsterdam – IJmuiden area as an offshore hub. To this effect we greatly appreciate the support we have been receiving from both the Port of IJmuiden and our landlord TMA Logistics.”
