Did not want to exclude you all from this Sunday fishing story.
As you may know, we always have one or more fishing lines behind the vessel.
We already caught some fine Tuna, Dorado's, Trigger Fish and Calamari's this trip. Just as we do every trip, to provide us with some fresh sea food for the traditional BBQ or 'braai'.
And since this morning we are using bigger and more professional hooks and baits. But please do not ask me how and where we 'found' that hooks as you will get the same answer as the worried Cape Verde fisherman got this morning.
It did not help him much....
When you see the pictures I can hear you say:"but you did not caught it!"
"Only fish dismantled and well, on the poop-deck counts as being caught"
"so why this story?"
Because for me it is the first time I ever hooked a shark which is a known man eater (or at least attacker), the 'Oceanic white tip' shark.
And to be truthful our first intention was to release it anyhow.
Euh that is not true..that was our second intention. Our first intention was to bring it on board. But when the shark was halfway we discovered that a shark of 1,5 meter weighing approximately 40-50 kg and still alive is quit a ...struggle..
We were in the middle of our discussion on how to proceed, when the
shark made the decision for us.
So the picture is all.
For the moment..
p.s.
The fisherman was complaining to me this morning he lost a lot of good
quality fishing line, two lights, a small buoy and 8 hooks plus baits..
